Search Engine Optimization

The basic prinicpal of search engine optimization is that CONTENT IS KING. The search engines love websites with a lot of content. Of course the content must be relevant to what yoru website is trying to promote. For real estate websites you want more of a community based websitebecause it will attract more buyers than an agetn site. You can add more content about the areas you work in. Be specific. Add a lot of links and verbage to the site that the search engines can see. There should be numerous links to shopping, dining, places to take the kids, schools, any attractions, etc. As nice as the really flashy sites are, most don't do well as far as lead generation is concerned. It's better to have lot's of wording about real estate in the area, not yourself, with links included. Repetition is good as well. The more the search engines see those words on your site the higher you'll rank with those keywords.

Something else the search engines look for is new content. You need a website that stays fresh. News feeds are a great way to have new streaming content on your website every day. The content is created on a another website but you get credit from the search engines for displaying the content on your site.

Blogs, Social Media Sites, and any other website you might be on are a rank way to increase traffic and search engine rankings. Add these links both to your main website. Then add them to your other connecting sites. This is called a reciprocal link. This is a great way to increase your ranking. If you take advantage of all the free sites our there that you can use you can easily add 10-15 reciprocal links right off the bat. A few examples are Twitter, LinkedIn, Myspace, Facebook, Trulia, Zillow, etc.

Search engine optmiziation is an extremely broad topic. This is just meant to get you started. Please feel free to post your thoughts or ideas.
